Nursery - Home Learning - Spring Term - Week 7

Friday 26th February

Good morning everyone! Well done for completing another week of home-learning! It's Friday again already, which means we have another catch-up and storytime meeting on Teams. I'm looking forward to seeing you all again!
Keep up the brilliant effort with your home-learning everybody!

Let's shake our sillies out this morning!

Home-Learning Tasks - 26.2.21

Yoga:
Let's do some Yoga this morning. This should help you stretch, balance and relax. Follow the Cosmic Kids Yoga session below, all about Spring. Enjoy!

Maths:
Have a go at the task below. How well do you know your 2D shapes? I know lots of you are good at recognising them when you're in class!
For this task, I would like you to colour in the 2D shapes using the correct colours. Give it a go! You could also look around your home environment for some 2D shapes too!

Physical Development - Fine-motor skills:

Have a go at the challenges below. You will need lolly sticks, coloured pencils or strips of paper. Carefully place your objects onto a table to copy the shapes on the sheet. Take your time and look carefully at the patterns and colours. Choose your favourite ones to complete and have fun!

Have a lovely day and a brilliant weekend!

Thursday 25th February

Good morning boys and girls. I hope you are having a positive week of home-learning so far! Thank you for uploading bits of work and sending through photos, you're all doing so well!

Let's warm up our bodies with Heads, Shoulders, Knees and Toes!

Home-Learning Tasks - 25.2.21

Literacy:
Have a go at this I-spy task all about the letter 'd'.

In addition to this task, or as an alternative, you could look for some items beginning with 'd', then draw or paint them.

Maths:

Have a go at the following maths games if you have access to a computer or i-pad/tablet. These games will support your counting, number recognition and shape knowledge. Have fun!

Habitats:
A habitat is a certain place that an animal lives. A polar bear might live in The Arctic, or a fish might live in a river or sea.
In The Gruffalo story, we meet some different animals. Look through the PowerPoint linked below to explore the habitats that those animals live in. Then, complete the task by matching the correct habitats to the animals from the story.

Task:

If you want to extend this task further, why don't you also think about where a Gruffalo might like to live? Design a habitat by drawing, painting or building one that is the perfect place for a Gruffalo. Be creative! Where would The Gruffalo live?

Have a brilliant day!

Tuesday 23rd February

Good morning everyone. Did you have a go at your home-learning tasks yesterday? I've seen some brilliant Gruffalo designs! Well done!

Let's get going with our tasks for today. Firstly, lets sing along to some of Mr Tumble's Nursery Rhymes!

Home-Learning Tasks - 23.2.21

Literacy:
Practice your letter and number formation on Doorway Online

Next, have a go at these Gruffalo Themed pencil control sheets. Try to hold your pencil correctly with the 'tripod' grip and try to keep on the dotted lines. Take your time!

 Maths:

Today I would like you to practice your counting skills. I've linked a sheet below that shows some fun ways for you to practice counting at home. Choose your favourite method and practice counting to 3,  5, 10 or beyond!

The Gruffalo - Story Sequencing

Have another read or listen to The Gruffalo from yesterday. Can you remember the order of events that happen in the story? Who are the different animals that the mouse speaks to? What happens in the story?

Have a look at the story sequencing cards linked below. Can you put them in order of what happened in the story? Think carefully about the order of animals that the mouse speaks to. Have a try!

Have a brilliant day!

Monday 22nd February

Good morning boys and girls. I Hope you had a lovely half-term holiday! We're starting the second half of the Spring Term now. The days are gradually getting lighter and a little bit warmer - you might already be able to spot some early signs of Spring outside with the flowers starting to shoot through the ground. The birds are also very busy building their nests... Don't forget to take time to stop, look and listen to the sounds of nature when you're out and about.

Let's start off the day by shaking our sillies out!

Home-Learning Tasks - 22.2.21

Literacy:

Today I would like you to have a go at recognising and attempting to write the initial sound - 'd'.

Initial_Sound_D.docxIf you can't manage the sheet, have a go at writing some giant letter ds with pencils or even paints. Have fun practicing!

Maths:
Warm up your brains ready for your maths activity by playing Bud's Number Garden

See the following activity below all about The Gruffalo. You could link it to maths by counting how many claws or eyes you give your monster. Try giving your monster 3 eyes, or 5 claws for example

Listen to The Gruffalo story. You may already be familiar with it! We're going to focus on this book in our class.

What a terrible looking creature The Gruffalo is! Did you notice all of his features? His terrible teeth, his terrible claws, his orange eyes and the purple prickles all over his back? Terrifying!

I would like you to design your own terrible monster today. You could draw it, paint it or even build it using recycled materials at home! Make it a REALLY terrible monster, add lots of detail just like The Gruffalo. I'm looking forward to seeing what you create!

I've included some blank monster outlines if you feel like you need some help getting started. Have fun!

Dough Disco:
Have a go a the following Dough Disco exercises to help develop fine-motor skills. If you don't have your own dough, you could use a sock!

Have a great day everyone!
