Nursery - Home Learning - Spring Term - Week 4

Friday 29th January

Good morning everyone. It's Friday! Well done for completing your home-learning tasks this week. A brilliant effort by everyone. You are all doing so well! If you haven't registered for the Big Garden Birdwatch this weekend, then head over to the Science page under 'learning' on the school website to find out how to get involved. We're encouraging everyone to have a go and see which garden birds you can see over the weekend.
Also, remember to send through your photos for the Winter Nature Photography Challenge.

Home Learning Tasks - 29.1.21

Let's start off the morning with some Dough Disco! If you don't have play dough or modelling clay at home, you can use a sock! (This works surprisingly well).

Maths:

Warm up with a game from Top Marks.

Today I would like you go at the capacity experiment. Click on the link below to access your task and find out what to do!

/docs/Friday_Capacity.docx

Literacy:
Complete the task linked below. It's further practice on forming the letter 'o'. As always, you can practice writing your letters in any way you like. You could use pencils or crayons, you could paint your letters, you could even create your letters using play dough or modelling clay or write them in sand. Have a go!

Yoga:
Since it's Friday, let's do some yoga! This one is all about boats, just like the ones you made yesterday! Relax, stretch and enjoy it.

Story time:
End your day by listening to your favourite story. Have an adult read to you, find one on YouTube or follow the link below to access the CBeebies Storytime App!

Have a great weekend everyone!

Thursday 28th January

Good morning boys and girls! Did you have a good day yesterday? How was PE and Music? After our number and writing tasks, we will continue our transport theme by having a go at making something! Let's get going!

Let's sing along to some of Mr Tumble's Nursery Rhymes to start off our day!

Home Learning Tasks - 28.1.21

Maths: Let's begin by playing this maths game on Top Marks.

If you have the opportunity today to go outside on a walk, take this task sheet with you. See if you can count how many different coloured cars you can see! Put a mark or a line in the 'tally' column for each coloured car that you see.
Can you count them all up at the end? Which colour did you see the most?
If you don't have the opportunity to go outside, then you could count your coloured toys at home, or even count the coloured pencils or pens in your house! Have fun!

Literacy:

If you have the CBeebies Storytime App, then have a listen to a story on there before starting your literacy task.

Practice writing your name today! Have an adult write your name in big letters on a piece of paper, in a bright colour. See if you can trace over the letters and then have a go at writing it yourself underneath. See how you get on.

Transport - Make a boat using recycled materials:

Your task this afternoon is to find some items around your home that you can use to make a boat! Try to look for packaging, cartons and containers that are due to be recycled, or even use wood or other natural materials that you've found outside in nature.
Be creative and see if you can attach a sail or flag to the body of your boat. If your boat floats in water at the end then that's even better! Test it out!
Decorate/design your boat in any way that you like. You might need an adult to help you cut out your materials. Have fun!

Have a brilliant day everyone!

Wednesday 27th January

Good morning everyone. It's Wednesday, which means Music and PE this afternoon! I hope you've having a great week so far!

Have a go at this task, all about repeating patterns. You could extend this task by creating your own patterns with LEGO bricks or coloured toys if you have them at home.

Literacy:
Practice your letter and number formations on Doorway Online - Click on the link below.
Can you write your own letters independently? If you can, see how many you can write on some paper! You could even paint your letters, or write your letters in sand if have that at home.

Music: Today you have a new lesson to complete on YUMU. Log in, then click on 'assignments' followed by 'Nursery & Reception - Lesson 3'. Have fun!

PE:
Complete today's PE lesson with Joe Wicks! Have fun getting active and working out! Give it your best try!

Have a brilliant day everyone!

Tuesday 26th January

Good morning boys and girls. Did you enjoy making your winter-scene picture yesterday? I've seen some great pictures being sent in of your home-learning... Well done and keep it up!

Start off your day by singing and dancing to a song of your choice by The Learning Station!

Home Learning Tasks - 26.1.21

Maths:
Warm up your brains ready for learning with a maths game on Top Marks. Have fun!

Have a go at the colour-by-number task below. See if you can spot the numbers in the picture and colour them in using the correct colours!

Tuesday_Colour_by_number.pdf

Literacy:

Yesterday you learned to recognise and write the letter 'o'. Have a go at this pencil control activity, it should further help you when writing this letter. Take your time and try to keep your pencil on the dotted lines.

How about following up your lesson by listening to a story on the CBeebies Storytime App. (A link to the app is under 'useful links' near the top of this page.)

Transport:

Have a think about different forms of transport.
How do people travel around, or what do people travel in when they go from place to place?
The following activity will give you the opportunity to sort the different forms of transport into water, land and air types. How many do you recognise?
Cut out the different vehicles and stick them in the correct place on the picture, to show land, water or air transport.
You may need to ask an adult to help you cut them out.

Have a great day everyone!

Monday 25th January

Good morning everyone! I hope you all had a nice weekend and are ready for another week of home-learning. It has been very frosty and sunny recently, perfect for some winter photo opportunities! Don't forget to email through your winter nature photos (maximum of 3) for the competition. The deadline is February 12th.

Let's start off the day by shaking our sillies out!

Home Learning Tasks - 25.1.21

Maths: Warm-up by playing Bud's Number Garden!

Your task today is to explore the different combinations of numbers that make 5. These are called number bonds.
Click on the image below to access your task. There are boxes for you to write the numbers in if you feel confident - if not, just tell an adult how many dinosaurs you have coloured. Give it your best try!

Literacy:
Have a go at reading and writing the 'o' sound today.

If you struggle to write with a pencil, then try the interactive letter-formation activities on Doorway Online.

Winter arts & crafts:

Have a go at making a winter-themed picture, using various arts & crafts items available to you. You could make your picture look frosty, snowy or icy by using blue/white colours. You could use cotton wool for snow, or even add some real nature objects from outside! There is no right or wrong way to make your picture - just be creative and have fun!

Have a great Monday!
