English Intent
At Bishopton Redmarshall C of E Primary School, our intention is to provide an engaging and purposeful English curriculum that will enable our children to achieve the knowledge, skills and understanding to be successful, resilient learners and prepare them for their future lives. English is a core subject of the National Curriculum and is an integral part to accessing all subject areas. That is why we aim to provide many opportunities for reading, writing, speaking and listening across the curriculum through our topic based approach.
Through our curriculum, we strive to ensure that our children are immersed in a richness of texts that grows a love of reading for both pleasure and academic success. We recognise the importance of nurturing a culture where children take pride in their writing, use an increasingly varied and contextual vocabulary and can adapt their writing styles for a range of genres. We aim to inspire confidence and eloquence in the art of speaking and listening and allow children opportunities to develop these skills through our broad and balanced curriculum. We intend that our children leave Bishopton Redmarshall equipped with the necessary skills which will enable them to be independent and motivated readers, writers and speakers with creative and enquiring minds.
