Good Morning All,

Well there doesn't seem to be much let up in the weather although between the snow showers there are some rays of sunshine to enjoy. I hope you've all been working through your tasks this week. I've enjoyed writing the first of my finding tale stories - I'll publish the second one tomorrow. The problem paragraphs that some of you have sent me have been superb! I'm looking forward to reading the full-version of your stories.

Good morning Children,

Well the weather was really yucky yesterday and I don't think it's going to be much better today. You probably didn't need to colour your moth template at all to camouflage it. Just leave it white. Do wrap up warm if you venture outside today. Let's see what we've got for you.

This is the end of unit Maths assignment for Area and Perimeter. Please complete the questions then attach it as a picture or pdf and hand in on the assignments page of teams. If you need a printed copy you can collect one from school. Please complete the sheet by 4pm Thursday 11th February.

I have also made the assignment available in one note where you can edit the document and write on it as an electronic version. You need to have one note downloaded on your ipad or computer to do this.

Obviously, this is new to all of us so don't worry too much about completing it that way but if you want to have a go you can.

English

Please now plan your complete story. You need an opening and build-up to fit in front of the problem paragraph you have just written. Then a resolution and ending paragraph after it.

I have also put this in the Class Notebook as a one note file so you can edit it directly online without printing. Again don't worry if can't access this and prefer to download and type into the word document from here.

  Spring 1 Week 5 1st -5th Feb

Friday 5th February 2021

Hello Children,

It was fabulous seeing so many of you on our teams call this week. It certainly cheers me up getting together with you all - even if it is just virtually. Our teams skills have been progressing all week. It won't be long before we're experts! I think it's brilliant being able to choose your background - see I'm easily amused. I hope you all enjoyed the scattergories game as much as I did. I think we'll give that one another whirl next week, then find a new game for after half-term.

I'm going to make a few adjustments to the timetable over the next week. Nothing major just swapping a few lessons around. So don't think I've missed Science off tomorrow - I'm moving it to Monday's - when we will start our new topic.

So let's see what we've got for today.

Good Morning Children,

Well I hope the weather is going to improve for the rest of the week. It was ghastly yesterday. Thank goodness we had so much work to keep us all entertained! A few technical issues yesterday with teams and PowerPoint - I think most were resolved. Please ring the school office if you want to talk to someone about something technical you're struggling with - Mrs Young is a real whizz with all this. Sometimes it's easier to talk than type. Obviously, I'll reply to you when I see your posts and continue to help.

Ok, let's see what we've got for today.

Good Morning Everyone,

I hope we are all feeling full of life and raring to go. We've another day of lessons to keep us on the straight and narrow. Thank you to everyone who has already uploaded their reading on teams and for the additional work I have been sent on teams too - just fantastic. Please now try to put any work you send in onto your own teams channel - you can place your file or photo in the posts - I can pick it up from there.

Now before we start today, I have to admit to a mistake; drawn to my attention by one of our Year 5's - I'll let you guess who.

So on page 3 of the PowerPoint - I originally put 10 but it should have been 7       ( I read the frequency from my table instead of the combined score - easily done). Anyway if anyone hasn't finished/done their Geography yet I have reloaded the PowerPoint - with correction.

Monday 1st February 2021

Good Morning Boys and Girls,

Well the start of a new week and a new month. It's a bit chilly outside but hopefully we may see some sunshine today.

Firstly, before we start can I say thank you to everyone, children and parents for working so hard to make our home learning happen - it's just amazing!

The quality of work coming in is superb. One more week after this week and we can all have a rest for a few days. Let's keep our stamina up.

We'll be using teams a little bit more this week but not moving away from the Class webpage just yet so please keep your eyes on both. I must say your enthusiasm for the teams launch was fantastic last week. This week we've another 'get together' on Thursday and a couple more assignments for you to complete and upload.

We're here to help so don't be stuck. Type into the teams chat feed if you need some support - you all have your own private channel now if you don't want everyone to see - however, having said that your questions may help someone else too. Let's work together - you were all very supportive of each other last week which was just brilliant to see. We are definitely in this together. Off we go then!

 Spring week 4 25th- 29th January 2021

Friday 29th January 2021

Good Morning Class 4,

Well it really was great to see your happy smiling faces yesterday. If I couldn't see you - it's possible you may need to download the Teams app and go in through that. If you remember back in September we had the same problem with the Friday assembly only showing up as initals on the screen. I'm going to have a think over the weekend what activity we can do next week so we can all engage with each other a bit better. I think we were all a little camera shy today - me included. I'm going to do Star of the Week from next week in our meeting too.

It's very new to us all but we'll get there. You may have noticed I have now made private channels for everyone. You can have a try at uploading your work to your channel - I will put some subject folders in there tomorrow for you to place your work in. If we are sucessful with this it will save your parents a lot of time emailing. It's going to take a bit of time and patience but I'm sure this is going to work.

So what have I got for you today.

I thought I'd give you a choice today.

Hopefully you are all now nearly finished with your biography on Harriet Tubman. I've received a few in already . Please send your work in for Friday 22nd January 2021.

Now, you are all experts at writing biographies I'd like you to write a biography on Floella Benjamin. You should have already researched her life so are ready to go. I would like this writing sent in for Friday 29th January 2021 - that's a week to complete it. Use your English lessons until the end of this week to write and edit - I will only be adding SPaG from now till Friday this week so you should have plenty of time to complete this task.

We have now come to the end of our unit of work on Graphs and tables.

Please complete the assessment and send it in via email - you can scan or photograph it. Everyone should have a printed paper copy to write on which was enclosed with the atlas you collected from school last week - send in date Friday 22nd Jan

Today we are going to begin writing the first part of our biography on Harriet Tubman. Use your notes, your plan, the wordmat and the checklist to help with your work. You may chose how you wish to present your writing. You can write in neat handwriting, type into word or even put each paragraph on a Powerpoint page - you can add in pictures to any of these. (I have provided a template if you wish to use this.)

I would like this writing sent in so I can give you feedback. Currently, I am working on setting up a Teams class page. You will be able to upload pieces of work to there. I will provide everyone with updated information on this shortly. Alternatively, you can send your writing via the school office, by upload or photograph. I'm looking forward to reading your masterpieces.

Week 1 5th- 8th January 2021

Friday 8th January 2021

Hello Everyone,

Our final school day of the week. I hope everyone is getting into the swing of working from home. Thank you to everyone who has sent completed work in this week- fantastic, Well Done!

Everyone must try to complete the tasks and work through each lesson as if you are in school. Each lesson, in each subject, is part of a sequence of lessons which will build up to a final piece of work. For example, our English lessons are leading  towards writing biographies for both Harriet Tubman and Floella Benjamin ( if you haven't completed your Christmas holiday research sheet, please spend time this weekend finishing this, as you will need the information for your biography). When your biographies are complete I will ask you to send them in for marking and feedback.

Also, once we have established which lesson is when I will make a weekly timetable so we know exactly what we are doing and when (just like in school).

So for today - Friday Morning,

Bug Club

Well done!!! to Zach, Bobbi, Bella, Tilly, Arun, Ellie, Teddy, Alfie and Euan who have read and completed quizzes on Bug Club in the last couple days
