Good morning boys and girls. I hope you are having a positive week of home-learning so far! Thank you for uploading bits of work and sending through updates, you're all doing so well!

Let's warm up our bodies with Heads, Shoulders, Knees and Toes!

Home-Learning Tasks - 25.2.21

Phonics:
Today, I would like you to watch the following video which teaches the 'ea' sound from the Read Write Inc. phonics scheme that we use in school. We explored 'ea' yesterday, so you should have a little head-start!
Follow along with the video and complete the tasks on there. You will need a pencil and some paper.

Reading:
Head over to Bug Club and explore some of the stories you have been set. If you have read all of those books, then click on 'My Library' to access all of the books you've been previously assigned. Try to read daily if you can.

Maths:
Today, I would like you to continue with your knowledge of counting and addition with numbers beyond 10. Have a go at the first page and then work through the second page if you can. There are some methods on the 3rd page that you could use to work out the answers. Complete what you can.

Click on the link below.

Habitats:
A habitat is a certain place that an animal lives. A polar bear might live in The Arctic, or a fish might live in a river or sea.
In The Gruffalo story, we meet some different animals. Look through the PowerPoint linked below to explore the habitats that those animals live in. Then, complete the task by matching the correct habitats to the animals from the story.

Task:

If you want to extend this task further, why don't you also think about where a Gruffalo might like to live? Design a habitat by drawing, painting or building one that is the perfect place for a Gruffalo. Be creative! Where would The Gruffalo live?

Have a brilliant day!

Tuesday 23rd February

Good morning everyone. Did you have a go at your home-learning tasks yesterday? I've seen some brilliant Gruffalo designs! Well done!

Let's get going with our tasks for today. Firstly, lets sing along to some of Mr Tumble's Nursery Rhymes!

Home-Learning Tasks - 23.2.21

Phonics:
Warm up your brains and practice your word reading skills with 'Dragon's Den' on Phonics Play! Try Phase 2 and then phase 3 if you can manage!

Click on the image below to access your phonics tasks for today. I would like you to focus on recapping the ay and oy sounds today. Give it your best go and let's see some super sentences!

Head over to Bug Club and explore some of the stories you have been set. If you have read all of those books, then click on 'My Library' to access all of the books you've been previously assigned.

Maths:
Today, I would like you to practice your addition skills. Can you add together the two groups and find the total amount? The numbers will go above 10 today, so use your number lines from yesterday to help you if you're not sure how to write numbers above 10. You can always use real objects at home to help with your counting too. Give it your best go!

The Gruffalo - writing

Have another read or listen to The Gruffalo from yesterday. Can you remember the order of events that happen in the story? Who are the different animals that the mouse speaks to? What happens in the story?
Try and create a storyboard showing the different parts of the story, in order. Draw some pictures that show what happens in the story and have a go at writing a short sentence or some labels underneath your pictures to explain what your pictures show.
Complete the first 3 boxes today and then next 3 boxes tomorrow.
I have included some story sequencing cards to help! Try putting the cards in order first before you create your storyboard, or use them as prompts.

Monday 22nd February

Good morning boys and girls. I Hope you had a lovely half-term holiday! We're starting the second half of the Spring Term now. The days are gradually getting lighter and a little bit warmer - you might already be able to spot some early signs of Spring outside with the flowers starting to shoot through the ground. The birds are also very busy building their nests... Don't forget to take time to stop, look and listen to the sounds of nature when you're out and about.

The Gruffalo:

Listen to The Gruffalo story. You may already be familiar with it! We're going to focus on this book in our class.

What a terrible looking creature The Gruffalo is! Did you notice all of his features? His terrible teeth, his terrible claws, his orange eyes and the purple prickles all over his back? Terrifying!

I would like you to design your own terrible monster today. You could draw it, paint it or even build it using recycled materials at home! Make it a REALLY terrible monster, add lots of detail just like The Gruffalo. I'm looking forward to seeing what you create!

I've included some blank monster outlines if you feel like you need some help getting started. Have fun!
